Goal – I See Only Bird’s Eye

Acharya Drona was the teacher of Kauravas and Pandavas since their childhood. He was providing education and training to princes with more emphasis on use of different types of arms. After certain period of traning, he wanted to test the skill of his disciples. For the purpose, a bird was perched on a tree and princes had to shoot the eye of the bird with an arrow. Most of the princes thought it to be easy task. Acharya called Yudhister, the eldest Pandava and asked him to take his aim at the bird’s eye. After Yudhister took the aim, Acharya asked him,” What do you see?”

Yudhister replied,” I see the bird, whole tree, and other birds sitting on it.” Acharya stopped him from shooting the bird’s eye. He called other prices turn by turn based on their seniority according to age. On putting the same question, all the princes replied in the same way as Yudhister did. Now it’s the turn of Arjun. When he took the aim on the target – the birds eye, Acharya asked him,” What did you see?” Arjun replied, “Only the bird.” Acharya asked him to take his aim afresh which he did. On this Acharya asked the same question, “ What did you see?” Arjun replied,” I see only the birds eye and nothing else is visible to me.” Acharya was quite pleased with this answer and declared him as successful in the best. Later Arjun became the best archer in the world.

Lesson from the story is that the person who has focus on his target will be successful. This is true in every walk of life. If we do too many things at time, and we don’t achieve any thing meaningful. Therefore we should put focus on what we want to achieve.

The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don't define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them. Denis Watley
